School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering cultivates talents in science and technology through STEM education
As one of Vietnam's leading technical universities with a focus on applied technology, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) strives to connect, disseminate, and ignite a passion for scientific research among young individuals, right from their school days.
Serving the community's educational development in the context of the fourth industrial revolution, digital transformation, and green conversion, enhancing and improving the quality of human resources is an inevitable trend, particularly among pioneering and creatively rich young labor force. In developed countries, STEM education (an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) plays a leveraged role, directly contributing to the enhancement of knowledge and innovation in young minds.
Recognizing the importance of education, Hanoi University of Industry implements a program to support high schools in deploying STEM education, sponsoring equipment, and transferring STEM technology. Through this initiative, it nurtures the seeds of scientific research, allowing students to unleash their creativity, maximize their potential, and develop skills needed in today's modern technological world. Additionally, it serves as a foundation for guiding students with passions, capabilities, and career inclinations toward technology and engineering fields.
Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Tien Dung, Principal of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (under Hanoi University of Industry), delivered the remarks at the event
According to Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Tien Dung, the Principal of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE): Donating STEM products that are researched, designed, and manufactured by lecturers and students of the school has helped students to engage with science and technology products from a very early age, completing practical learning projects through hands-on experience. Consequently, this fosters a mindset of learning alongside practical application, enhances the capacity for innovative creativity, enables adaptation to solve scientific problems, and facilitates early familiarity with the university-level learning environment while still in high school.
Both parties signed the MoU of cooperation
At the event, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in community service activities with Son Tay High School (Hanoi) to establish a collaborative relationship between the two schools in developing educational and training linkages, community activities in line with the educational philosophy and core values of both sides. In particular, SMAE sponsors and transfers technology for STEM products including 3D printers and control programming robots.
Ms. Pham Thi Huyen, the Vice Principal of Son Tay High School, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering for their partnership in STEM education activities
"Utilizing advanced and modern equipment forms the foundation for Son Tay High School to create an engaging learning environment for students, contributing to the enhancement of the school's STEM education quality," emphasized Ms. Pham Thi Huyen, the Vice Principal of Son Tay High School.
The School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering awarded 3D printers and control programming robots to Son Tay High School, sparking vibrant experiential activities
In tandem with STEM education, equipment in the 4.0 era such as 3D printers and STEM robots are indispensable in every school. Building upon the STEM Robot model, students integrate mathematical knowledge with science, engineering, and technology to design programming and tackle real-life problems through STEM models.
For Khuat Dang Quang, an 11th-grade student at Son Tay High School, the 3D printer is an invaluable tool in realizing his dream of a world with reduced plastic waste. Transforming recycled plastic waste into 3D printed plastic not only contributes to environmental protection but also creates products with high value and aesthetics.
SMAE’s lecturers provide training and technology transfer to teachers and students of Son Tay high school, fostering a culture of innovation and practical learning
All students eagerly participated in practical activities such as operating robots to reach the finish line, creating products using 3D printing technology.
