HaUI and VinFast collaborate on technology transfer: School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering prepares to receive VF7 and VF9 electric vehicles for training and scientific research
Within the framework of the electric vehicle (EV) technology transfer program, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) will be one of the partners receiving two of the most modern EV models currently available being the VF7 and VF9 from VinFast. These vehicles will be integrated into teaching and research activities to enhance training capacity and promote scientific research in the field of electric vehicle technology.
On January 12th, 2026, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between HaUI and VinFast Trading and Production Company Limited took place at VinUniversity. This event marks a significant step forward in connecting and strengthening cooperation opportunities for training, scientific research, and the development of high-quality human resources between the University and the enterprise.
In its development orientation for the coming years, HaUI has identified research and training in electric vehicle technology as a key priority, aligning with the strong global shift toward green energy and sustainable transportation. SMAE plays a pivotal role in building in-depth research capacity, developing modern training programs, and strengthening cooperation with enterprises to update new technologies.

One of the most central and notable aspects of this cooperation agreement is the technology transfer program. VinFast is committed to accompanying training institutions by providing modern equipment and international-standard curricula. Specifically, VinFast will transfer a total of 60 electric vehicles to universities and colleges nationwide, along with simulators and a curriculum consisting of 3 specialized modules. This will help students not only master theory but also practice directly on smart vehicle models. Notably, SMAE, HaUI will receive two new-generation electric vehicles: the VF7 and VF9 in the near future.

Bringing VinFast's two new-generation electric SUV models into the laboratory and research center will open up valuable practical and experimental conditions for lecturers, researchers, and students. By directly accessing electric drive systems, battery technology, smart control structures, and advanced driver-assistance platforms, the School can accelerate in-depth research on EV technology, develop applied scientific topics, and test new technical solutions. The learning model associated with real-world equipment not only enhances Research & Development (R&D) capabilities but also creates a foundation for building valuable scientific and technological products, contributing to aligning technical training with the standards of advanced universities worldwide.

In addition to equipment support, VinFast and the University have agreed to promote the "Train the Trainer" program. This is a specialized training program for lecturers aimed at improving professional capacity and updating the latest technologies from the factory, ensuring that training quality always adheres closely to industrial reality. The cooperation between HaUI and VinFast goes beyond supporting training equipment; it demonstrates a shared vision in promoting green transformation and elevating Vietnam's position in the global automotive industry. This serves as an important foundation for both parties to jointly build an ecosystem of research and innovation in the EV sector, contributing to shaping the future of smart and sustainable transportation technology.
With a strategy of strong investment in facilities and a training orientation closely linked to scientific research, SMAE affirms its role as one of the pioneering units in automotive engineering training and research in Vietnam, particularly regarding core electric vehicle technologies. The cooperation with VinFast is a crucial step helping the School continue to consolidate its position, expand international cooperation opportunities, and elevate the quality of technical human resources to meet the standards of the modern industry.
