PhD Dissertation Seminar for PhD student Khuat Duc Duong – Mechanical Engineering

On the afternoon of December 25th, 2025, at School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) – Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), a PhD dissertation seminar was held for PhD student Khuat Duc Duong. The dissertation is titled: "Static, dynamic analysis and structural optimization of Micro-sized doubly curved shells with variable mechanical properties." The seminar was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Bong from HaUI, with the participation of numerous scientists and experts from within and outside the university.

SMAE identifies faculty members holding Associate Professor and PhD titles and PhD as the core force in training and scientific research activities. Leveraging this elite workforce, SMAE aims to become a leading domestic training and research center for engineering, contributing significantly to the country's industrialization and modernization.

Overview of the PhD dissertation seminar for PhD student Khuat Duc Duong

At the seminar, PhD student Khuat Duc Duong presented the research findings within his dissertation systematically and scientifically. The research, titled "Static, dynamic analysis and structural optimization of Micro-sized doubly curved shells with variable mechanical properties," was conducted under the professional supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Linh (HaUI) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Nhu Mai (Institute of Mechanics – VAST).

The dissertation topic possesses both scientific and practical significance, with research results capable of application in various current and future engineering fields. While structural optimization of shells is a subject of interest to many scientists, optimization for micro-sized shells has not been extensively featured in existing literature, partly due to the complexity of the calculation process. Therefore, these research results provide valuable contributions and references for design engineers in the effective manufacturing of practical products.
