Evaluation and Acceptance of University-Level Research Project: “Research, Design, and Fabrication of an Outdoor Mobile Robot Using a Multi-Sensor Localization System”
On November 24th, 2025, the University-level Research Project Evaluation Council conducted an assessment of the project titled “Research, Design, and Fabrication of an Outdoor Mobile Robot Using a Multi-Sensor Localization System,” chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong – Vice Rector of the University.
Given the context where robotic technology is increasingly applied across industrial manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, defense, and services, the development of sensors and artificial intelligence has opened up significant opportunities to enhance the autonomy and intelligent interaction of robots. This project is expected to contribute to realizing that trend.

The speech of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong – Vice Rector of the University, Council Chairman
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tu – Vice Rector of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Project Manager, presented the key highlights: the research team successfully developed a multi-sensor localization system integrating predictive control and reinforcement learning solutions. This allows the robot to generate maps, automatically determine trajectories, avoid obstacles, and navigate to the desired location. Mechanically, the design ensures rigidity, enabling the robot to operate stably and flexibly in outdoor environments with high reliability.

Going beyond theory, the research team successfully fabricated a robot prototype that met the specified requirements, while also publishing numerous research results in prestigious domestic and international journals and conferences. The project results serve as a foundation for the practical deployment, manufacturing, and application of the robot. The Council acknowledged and highly appreciated the team's efforts and results, unanimously agreeing to accept the project.
