Those being senior members of HaUI AUTO team: Nguyen Ha Anh, Tran Thanh Tung, Nguyen Ngoc Bao, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry have continuously innovated with fast self-development and became more successful through their participation in Shell Eco-marathon.

HaUI AUTO is probably the most mentioned name in recent days at the international arena Shell Eco-Marathon in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, 2024. With ranking among the Top three basic model car categories - internal combustion engine running gastroline with impresive achievement of 816 km per liter that HaUI AUTO achieved is a story that started with simple things and dedication from lecturers, students who are nurturing the desire to engrave their name on the global intellectual map.

Dr. Nguyen Anh Ngoc - Vice Rector of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, and other lecturers congrated HaUI AUTO team at Noi Bai airport after winning Third prize at the Shell Eco-Marathon Competition 2024.

According to the rules of Shell Eco Marathon Competition 2024 in the Prototype Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), All teams must pass technical inspection rounds and six rounds of competition, each with 3 rounds of the field equivalent to 12.9 km, to calculate fuel consumption. Only those passing these tests and enssuring the safety will gain the right to go on the race track. On July 4th, 2024, HaUI AUTO officially passed the technical test and won the right to compete. In this competition, the team using the lowest fuel consumption will be the winner.

The delegation of participants at Shell Eco-Marathon 2024, HaUI AUTO arrived at Noi Bai airport at 10:00 p.m, on July 9th, 2024, we had the opportunity to discuss with the team. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Nghia - Director of Automotive Practice and Inspection Center, Head of HaUI AUTO team said: “In order to achieve such a prize at the Shell Eco-Marathon Competition 2024, the whole team made a lot of efforts. This year, the Board of Organization demanded very high technical and safety requirements that numerous teams were not able to participate in the official competition. It can be said that the period of the technical adjustments for the car was the most difficult for the team as all members must be in a race against the clock to check in time and keep the work going continuously. Furthermore, during the race track, all teams were not allowed to practice, therefore after the results of each round, the whole team analyzed and proposed other options for the latter round. The results demonstrated that each subsequent achievement consistently outperformed its predecessor. HaUI AUTO was the only team surpassing all rounds, while many other teams had errors and could not complete the mission in the best way”. Through this competition, the whole HaUI AUTO team completed the mission given by the delegation as well as meeting the expectations of the Board of University. On behalf of team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Nghia - Head of HaUI AUTO team would like to send his thanks to Board of Hanoi University of Industry and Board of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering as well as news agencies for their interest and creation of favorable conditions, that encouraged the team to compete and achieve a high ranking at Shell Eco-Marathon Competition 2024.

Tran Thanh Tung - from automotive class - K16, who is the senior member of Haui AUTO team, said that: “This competition was wholeheartedly stringent but also promoted the solidarity in the learning exchange among students. All teams in the internal combustion engine had high performance and equal capacity. During the SEM competition at Lombok, I and my team had memorable experiences, especially the tension and the hardship of technical inspection to officially compete before achieving the Third prize. Moreover, we had the opportunity to exchange ideas with other students from around the world, who were very friendly. Although they were our competitors, all team always expressed the spirit of fair play and supported each other to pass the technical inspection. Everyone cheered for others and wished them the best results”.

This year, Vietnam had two representatives at the Shell Eco-Marathon 2024 Competition in Indonesia, including the team from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry and the other one from Lac Hong University. These are two educational institutions rich in tradition and having won many achievements at Shell Eco-Marathon Competition.

Representing the national team as well as competing with international competitors at SEM is an honor and a magnificent impression which any student aspires to experience once in life. HaUI AUTO team from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry brought to this competition a remarkable impression of engineering students with the tradition of 126 years of construction and development. All valuable moments at SEM will remain in the hearts of HaUI AUTO members. The memory in Indonesia will be a complete picture of the enthusiasm and memorable youth of engineering students at School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry.

On the momentum of success, the team is keeping numerous new initiatives to conquer the 2025 Shell Eco-Marathon in order to bring more glorious victories to both the university and the country. HaUI AUTO team intends to improve the traditional model car and establish another team to compete at the electric vehicle category.
