Students of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, HaUI shined at Regional Robotics Competition in the Philippines.
In the early days of 2026, the Robotics team from the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE), Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) marked a proud new milestone for Vietnamese Robotics. Competing against many formidable opponents in the Philippines, the HaUI team proved their mettle as the sole representative of Vietnam at the regional VEX-U Robotics Competition 2026.
The HaUI 1 team consists of five students from the Faculty of Mechatronics (SMAE), mentored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dat and Dr. Pham Tien Hung. With a sound competitive strategy, solid engineering thinking, and stable robot operation, the HaUI 1 team achieved:
- Third Prize in Robot Skills (Robot Control and Autonomous Programming);
- Best Thinking Team Prize (Honoring teams with exceptional strategy and breakthrough technical thinking).

This is an intensive technical challenge specifically for university students, gathering the best teams in the region to compete. At this competition, HaUI’s students demonstrated their expertise by designing and customizing highly complex robots. The successful application of 3D printing technology and precision mechanical engineering, combined with advanced sensor integration, not only enabled flexible robot operation but also showcased the creative thinking and mastery of modern technology by HaUI students at a regional level.

This success is the result of persistent training, technological mastery, and the relentless efforts of HaUI’s students

To empower the team on January 26th, 2026, the SMAE’s Board of Rectors and the Department of Science and Technology of HaUI met the team to encourage and assign tasks.
Before and during the competition days, the team consistently received attention, encouragement, and support from HaUI and the SMAE’s Board of Rectors, which is a significant source of motivation for the members to enter the tournament with confidence. The success achieved in Philippines not only demonstrates the capability of HaUI’s students but also reflects the university's practice-oriented training direction. This environment allows students to further hone their teamwork, project management, and problem-solving skills under international competitive conditions.

Congratulations to the HaUI 1 team for bringing glory to HaUI and Vietnam at the regional competition.
Congratulations to the HaUI 1 team! The team’s efforts have not only brought home awards but also inspired the engineering student community, while affirming the position of HauI in training high-quality human resources for the technology and engineering sectors. 2026 promises to be a new journey for the HaUI Robotics team to conquer even greater heights.
