Pham Thanh Đat – Outstanding Graduate in Mechatronics Engineering Technology, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering

Graduating with an Excellent degree and achieving the highest score in the Mechatronics Engineering Technology major in 2026, winning a Bronze Medal at WorldSkills 2024 and currently participating in training the Vietnamese national team for WorldSkills 2026, Pham Thanh Dat – a student of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) – is a shining example of a young generation with strong character, great aspirations, and readiness for international integration.

Impressive Achievements of an Outstanding Student

During his years of study at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, HaUI, Pham Thanh Dat has marked a journey of unceasing effort. Not only did he graduate with an Excellent degree and achieve the highest academic performance in the Mechatronics Engineering Technology major in 2026, but Dat also boasts an impressive record of achievements:

- Graduated with an Excellent degree in Mechatronics Engineering Technology in 2026.

- Bronze Medal in the CNC Milling skill at WorldSkills 2024.

- Awarded the title of Outstanding Student in the 2021–2022 academic year.

- Received full scholarships for three consecutive semesters.

- Currently participating in training the Vietnamese national team for WorldSkills 2026 at DENSO Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Looking back on his academic journey, Dat believes that the most important factor is to build a solid foundation of knowledge from the very beginning in the classroom, while proactively seeking specialized materials and applying modern technological tools to the learning process. Sharing his experience during his time at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Dat said: “What left the strongest impression on me were the laboratory sessions, practical sessions, and project-based courses. Students have access to modern machinery and directly manufacture actual products. During this process, we have the opportunity to experience, challenge ourselves, make mistakes, and, most importantly, always receive the companionship and dedicated guidance of our lecturers to improve our professional skills.”

WorldSkills 2024 – A Turning Point that Took Young Talent to the World

Few people know that Pham Thanh Dat’s journey to conquering the world’s largest skills competition began with a recruitment workshop held at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, with the participation of DENSO Vietnam Co., Ltd. Initially joining simply to challenge himself, Dat successively passed a series of rigorous assessment rounds to become Vietnam’s representative competing in the CNC Milling skill at WorldSkills 2024.

To prepare for the competition, Dat underwent nearly two years of intensive training, with very high requirements for precision, programming skills, machining, and error control. “There were components that had to be machined over and over again just to reduce a very small error. It was the engineering mindset, discipline, and working methods developed at the School that helped me quickly adapt to the stringent standards of WorldSkills. The Bronze Medal was not only my own achievement but also the result of the efforts of the experts, lecturers, and my family who have always accompanied and supported me,” Pham Thanh Dat shared.

After completing his training program at HaUI, Pham Thanh Dat chose to work in the modern industrial environment of DENSO Vietnam Co., Ltd. – a leading enterprise in technology and automotive component manufacturing. Currently, Dat participates in supporting the training of the Vietnamese representative preparing for WorldSkills 2026 in the CNC Milling skill. From being a contestant who brought glory to the country, Dat has now become a person who inspires and shares experience with the next generations.

According to Dat, the greatest advantage that students of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering have is their ability to quickly adapt to the enterprise environment thanks to a training program closely linked to production practices. “The knowledge and skills I acquired at the School have helped me significantly shorten the gap between theory and actual work. Studying while having opportunities to gain exposure to enterprises helps students develop professional working practices from an early stage,” Dat said.

Sending a message to generations of students, the young engineer shared: “Do not limit yourself. Be bold in seizing every opportunity that comes your way, even if it is only a very small experience. Those opportunities themselves can become turning points for the future. As long as you maintain a spirit of learning and persistently pursue your goals, you can absolutely achieve what you desire.”

School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering: A Launchpad for Talent – Elevating Knowledge

The success of Pham Thanh Dat is a vivid testament to the orientation toward applied training, innovation, and international integration of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry. With an experienced faculty, most of whom hold doctoral degrees, associate professorships, and professorships and have been trained in countries with developed industrial sectors; a system of more than 50 modern practical rooms and laboratories; and an extensive network of cooperation with hundreds of domestic and international enterprises such as Denso, Nissan, Foxconn, etc., the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering is building a learning environment closely connected with production practices and the requirements of the global labor market.
