2025 Graduation Ceremony, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering - A new journey begins with knowledge and passion

On August 17th , 2025, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) at Hanoi University of Industry formally held a Graduation and Degree Conferment Ceremony for its new engineers and bachelors. This is a significant milestone, not only marking the students' maturity after a journey of diligent study but also serving as an occasion for SMAE to affirm its position in training high-quality human resources for industrial sectors.

The ceremony was attended by the University's leadership: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hong Quan - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong - Vice Rector of the University. Representing SMAE were the Board of Directors, Heads of departments, numerous faculty members, corporate representatives, and especially the presence of over 900 new engineers and bachelors.

On its journey of knowledge creation and development of high-quality human resources, SMAE has always remained steadfast in its sustainable development orientation, with the intellect and dedication of its lecturers and students as its core foundation. In the 2024–2025 academic year, the School chose the word “Copper” as the guiding principle for all activities. The spirit of unified effort, shared intellectual growth, close companionship, and unanimous agreement became the driving force for both lecturers and students to overcome challenges and achieve proud accomplishments. This also serves as a testament to the solidarity, creativity, and determination to excellently fulfill the School's strategic objectives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung – SMAE’s Rector, extended his congratulations and shared heartfelt remarks with the new graduates. He emphasized that although their academic journey was full of challenges – especially during the COVID-19 pandemic – the students demonstrated admirable resilience, strength, and a spirit of overcoming adversity.

He affirmed: “Today's knowledge is the foundation, but lifelong learning is the key for you to stand firm and advance far.” In the context of rapid technological change and increasing demands from the labor market, continuous learning, updating knowledge, and honing skills are vital for success.

Representing the 2025 graduating engineers and bachelors, student Dao Thi Nga from Mechanical Engineering 4 Class, K16, expressed deep gratitude to the Board of Deans, the faculty, and her family. Nga shared: "Our lecturers not only imparted knowledge but also supported and forged us to overcome challenges, igniting the flame of passion in each student."

Every diploma tells a story of effort, but some stories are exceptionally brilliant. These are the stories of the 07 valedictorians - those who have affirmed their talent and persistent will on their journey to conquer knowledge. Their achievements are not only a source of pride for themselves and their families but also a great honor for SMAE and an inspiration for future generations of students.

One of the notable highlights of the ceremony was the degree conferment ritual, the moment when each student officially received the fruit of their labor, affirming their maturity and readiness to embark on a new journey. At the ceremony, SMAE honored 32 outstanding students of the School, who were engineers and bachelors graduating with honors and the highest GPA in their majors. Notably, one student from the School graduated 12 months ahead of the standard program duration.

Notably, the K16 Alumni Liaison Committee was also officially launched at the ceremony, with the goal of building a strong alumni community to support and inspire future generations of students and contribute to the School's development activities.

With the aim of connecting, supporting, and inspiring subsequent student generations, the K16 Alumni Liaison Committe promises to become a solid bridge between alumni and the School. This event not only creates meaningful relationships and development opportunities for individuals but also actively contributes to the sustainable growth of SMAE in the future. As of today, the new graduates officially become part of the alumni community, continuing the fine traditions and contributing together to the strength of their alma mater.
