School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to improve the quality of training and research

On August 1st, 2025, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE), Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) had a working session and a field trip to Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd., marking an important step in the extensive cooperation strategy between the school and the enterprise. This activity is part of the plan to enhance practical connections for lecturers in the 2024-2025 academic year, aiming to improve the quality of training and scientific research.

The working session was attended by a delegation from SMAE led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung - SMAE’s rector. On the side of Canon Vietnam, Mr. Ryo Onoue - Director of Human Resources Department with technical and human resources staff welcomed and worked with the delegation.

Speaking at the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung emphasized: "This working visit is a testament to the commitment of SMAE to constantly innovate and improve the quality of training. The goal of the School is to equip students with the most practical knowledge and skills, meeting the maximum requirements of the labor market in the era of Industry 4.0. Closely connecting with leading enterprises such as Canon Vietnam helps SMAE innovate training programs, update modern technology and create the best conditions for students to access practical knowledge right from when they are still in school."

At the working session, Mr. Ryo Onoue, Director of Human Resources Department of Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd., shared that more than 700 officers and employees of the company are HaUI’s alumni. Among them, many are holding important positions in the company. This clearly demonstrates that Hanoi University of Industry has trained generations of capable students, meeting the needs of businesses, especially Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Within the framework of the working session, the two sides discussed key cooperation contents, including:

- Cooperation in training and human resource development: Discussing the reception of SMAE’s students to intern at Canon Vietnam, as well as creating job opportunities for students after graduation. The two sides also considered coordinating to organize short-term training courses to improve the professional capacity of students and lecturers.

- Workshops and professional exchanges: considering coordinating to organize workshops to introduce internship programs and recruit human resources at Canon Vietnam. This is a valuable opportunity for students to access information directly from businesses and best prepare for their future careers.

- Sponsorship of education and talent development: Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. expressed its interest in sponsoring events and scholarships to develop student talent based on the company's criteria. This demonstrates the company's social responsibility and contributes to nurturing young talents for the industry.

- Cooperation in research and innovation: The two sides will consider jointly implementing science, technology and innovation projects that both sides are interested in. This will not only promote scientific research activities in the school but also solve practical problems in the production and business of the enterprise.

- Field visit and experience of the working environment: The delegation visited the working environment, learned about the techniques and technologies being applied, and the production and business organization process at Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. This activity provides a practical, updated view for lecturers on technology trends and industry requirements.

This working visit including cooperation signing demonstrate the vision and strategy of SMAE in promoting comprehensive cooperation with leading enterprises, aiming to improve the quality of training, linking theory with production and business practices. The main purpose of the activity is to help lecturers learn about techniques, technologies, production and business organization processes being implemented by enterprises; connect technical and technological cooperation between lecturers and enterprises; and apply the results of the visit and survey to professional activities at the faculty.

The successful working session opened up many potential cooperation opportunities, contributing to building a solid bridge between education and production practices.
