"Mini Robot" Competition and display of science and technology products at Engineering Festival 2025

Vibrant, creative, and inspiring - the Engineering Festival 2025 at Hanoi University of Industry, held on June 26th , 2025, truly exploded with its central theme: "Mini Robot." The event featured a prominent competition showcasing innovative product models designed and built by the University's students. This annual activity is not just an exciting intellectual playground for engineering-passionate students but also an opportunity to practice skills, share research experiences and expand connections with the business community.

In the context of the strong Fourth Industrial Revolution, Hanoi University of Industry continuously innovates, enhances training quality, and promotes scientific research to educate high-quality human resources. School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) prides itself on being a leading training institution, always pioneering the implementation of modern and internationally standardized training programs. Speaking at the festival, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong - Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), highlighted the students' innovative spirit: "The entrepreneurial and innovative spirit in students has been nurtured through the foundational knowledge imparted by lecturers, thereby igniting a passion for scientific research in each of them. I hope that after this competition, students will gain a deeper insight into how to apply artificial intelligence to solve real-world problems. Students’ scientific and technological projects should be oriented towards creativity, with the potential for product commercialization, contributing to improving the quality of life. Through the Engineering Festival, other learning and research activities at the university, students will be fully equipped to become excellent future bachelors and engineers, global citizens capable of actively contributing to the development of the industry and the country."

The highlight of this festival was a series of vibrant activities centered around the theme "Mini Robot," alongside a display area showcasing innovative products and models. The event space buzzed with a wide array of unique robot models and mini-automation applications, which are hand-designed and built by students. Each model tailored to specific fields of study. Student teams confidently presented their products to the Jury consisting of experienced lecturers and received in-depth professional advice, valuable practical sharing, helping to further perfect their research topics.

Sharing his feelings when participating in the event, student Dam Xuan Long - Robotics and Artificial Intelligence class, K17 excitedly said: “From the moment I entered the product display area, I felt a very special source of energy - the energy of creativity and passion for technology. Seeing the models and scientific research products designed and manufactured by the seniors and students was really impressive. From compact devices to larger-scale machines, all showed that students' ability to apply knowledge into practice is extremely great.”

After the preliminary round, the organizing committee selected 16 student teams with creative models and products to display at the festival. They presented their ideas, results achieved by the group as well as the development direction of the topic. Final results:

The First Prize belongs to the topic: "Titanium alloy magnetic polishing machine for biomedical applications"

The Second Prize is the topic: "Devices to support the visually impaired"

The Third Prize is the topic: "Model of automatic cargo transport vehicle applying image processing"

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung - SMAE’s Rector and Mr. Nguyen Chi Hung – the representative of Robot & AI Edison Academy, awarded the Second Prize to the student who won the award of science and technology product.

Dr. Nguyen Anh Ngoc - SMAE’s Vice Rector and the representative of Vietnam Adesign Machinery Company Limited awarded the Third Prize to the student who won the award of science and technology product.

One of the most anticipated parts at this festival is the science and technology creative playground with the theme "Mini Robot". This is an opportunity for students to improve their creativity, programming skills, model making and teamwork spirit through creating technology products which have practical application.

After two preliminary rounds, the organizing committee selected the four best teams to compete at the Engineering Festival. The match was extremely dramatic, bringing many explosive emotions to the fans, lecturers and students with impressive score chases and competitions. Final results:

Also at the 2025 Engineering Festival, Mr. Tran Van Huong - Chairman of the Board of HTV Vietnam Industries and Trading Joint Stock Company, represented the company to present a 3-axis robot worth 100 million VND to SMAE. This is a meaningful gift, contributing to improve facilities and provide practical support for students' research and study activities in the field of engineering.
