Defense ceremony of graduation project for K16 students of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering: Affirming the courage, firmly stepping into the future

May is brilliant with the red phoenix flowers, June calls summer with bunches of purple Lagerstroemia. These two months are also the signal of the return of a challenging but memorable exam and project season. In that atmosphere, more than 800 K16 students of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE), Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) officially entered the defense of graduation project, the 2024-2025 school year. From May 27th to May 31st , 40 evaluation councils worked urgently and seriously, witnessing the achievements after many efforts of future bachelors.

Graduation project – a provision for future bachelors

The graduation project is not only the most important and difficult challenge that every engineering student must conquer, but also the clearest evidence of the knowledge and skills that have been diligently accumulated after 4 years of studying. Valuable lessons, from the process of coming up with ideas, researching, implementing to the day of successful defense, have truly become provisions, adding strength and confidence to students of SMAE on the career path ahead.

This defense session gathered groups of projects from many key majors such as Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Mold Engineering Technology, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Systems Engineering. A highlight is the applicability and close connection with production practice, with the specific characteristics of each topic, showing the serious investment and vision of the students.

Accompanying enterprises – A bridge between practice and career opportunities

For the fourth consecutive year, the councils at SMAE are honored to have the participation of representatives from prestigious enterprises. This presence not only brings in-depth professional comments and practical directions to help perfect students' products and models, but also opens up opportunities for enterprises to find potential candidates who are suitable for their human resource needs. Representatives of participating enterprises all highly appreciate the quality and potential of future bachelors from SMAE. The School aims for students to work immediately after graduation and be officially recruited by enterprises, so the school will regularly invite enterprises to participate in the council for students' defense of graduation project.

Overcoming difficulties successfully - Sharing from students

Close support from instructors is a decisive factor in helping many students overcome the most difficult stages in the project process. Student Duong Thu Huyen (Mechanical Engineering 2 – K16) said: "As soon as I started working on the project, I felt difficulties in researching and completing my project such as: Searching for documents, drawing machine design drawings, technological processes,... but with the enthusiastic support of lecturers in the department as well as my group members, I overcame those difficulties and successfully defended my graduation project". Pride in the school, deep gratitude to the lecturers who have devotedly taught me during the 4 years of studying at SMAE, HaUI are common feelings of Huyen and many other students. The fresh bouquets of flowers, words of encouragement from friends on the defense day made this moment even more meaningful.

Nguyen Phi Hoai Nam, a student of Automotive class 4 - K16, SMAE, one of the few students preparing to receive a high distinction degree, could not hide his emotions when sharing his thoughts after completing his graduation project defense: "When the final comments from the council rang out, I really felt overwhelmed with joy and relief when my project achieved an excellent score. The journey to complete the graduation project is not an easy one, requiring high concentration, nights of hard work researching documents, designing, simulating, and even times when I felt stuck. Besides, with the support of lecturers and friends, I have grown a lot, not only in professional knowledge but also in problem-solving skills and perseverance. I believe that the knowledge and skills trained at SMAE, especially through the project process, will be a solid foundation for me to confidently enter the labor market, contributing to the development of the country's automobile industry."

Affirming the quality of training and looking towards the future

Representatives of the General Evaluation Councils commented that the quality of this year's graduation projects was good. Topics in the fields of Mechatronics, Mechanics, Automotive, Molds, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and Industrial Systems all demonstrated the elaborate investment, dedication and outstanding efforts of the students.

This is proof once again affirming the prestige and leading training quality of SMAE. The School has been and is excellently fulfilling its mission of creating highly qualified technical human resources, rich in creativity, pioneering in knowledge and technology transfer, strongly meeting the demands of the industrial revolution and effectively serving the cause of national development. With a spirit of fair and effective work, the councils have comprehensively evaluated, duly recognized valuable scientific research achievements and marked the remarkable maturity of the students.
