Honoring achievements and nurturing creativity at the 16th Student Scientific Research Conference and Awards Ceremony

The Student Scientific Research Conference is an important annual activity at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), aiming to honor outstanding achievements in research and practical application of students. This is not only a place to record academic results but also a forum to inspire, arouse the spirit of discovery, nurture the desire to conquer knowledge and passion for creativity of students, especially School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering’s students.

On the morning of June 26th , 2025, the closing ceremony and award ceremony for scientific research students for the 2024-2025 academic year took place at HaUI, attracting the participation of many students, lecturers and scientists. The event contributed to strongly promoting the scientific research movement and practical application in the student community.

In the 2024-2025 school year, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) recorded impressive growth in scientific research activities with nearly 150 topics in the fields of Mechanics and Automobiles. This demonstrates the interest and proactive spirit of students in scientific and technological activities.

The final results of this year's topics have many new and creative features , which are highly appreciated by the professional council with: 11 First prizes, 22 Second prizes, 25 Third prizes and 80 Consolation prizes. These achievements are the result of the dedicated and effective guidance of lecturers, along with the efforts and constant creativity of scientific research student groups.

Attending the closing and award ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung - SMAE ‘s Rector said: "In the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, where science and technology develop at a breakneck speed. As one of the leading training schools in the field of Mechanics and Automobile, the School has a vision of becoming a pioneer in research, technology transfer and innovation, while aiming to train bachelors, engineers and scientists who are not only good at their expertise but also have the ability to think innovatively, master technology and create new values for society. Students are the central nucleus to realize this vision. Through scientific research activities, students not only acquire knowledge but also practice essential skills for a generation of modern engineers such as problem-solving skill, teamwork skill and critical thinking skill.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Tien Dung - SMAE’s Rector congratulated the group of scientific research students for the 2024-2025 school year

Nguyen Thanh Tung - Automobile Class 5-K16, Head of the Automotive Engineering Technology student group, won the first prize with the topic: "Research and evaluation of the safety of coach car drivers in the case of a head-on collision". Sharing about the journey of implementing the topic, Tung said: "Our group has devoted a lot of effort and enthusiasm to this project over the past year. Stemming from the urgency of improving traffic safety, especially for vehicles such as 29-seat coach which are popular in developing countries like Vietnam, the topic focuses on analyzing the impact of head-on collisions on drivers. Specifically, we have studied vulnerable areas such as the neck, legs, thighs, etc. to assess and make practical recommendations on the risk of injury in collision situations. Hopefully, the results of this study will contribute to optimize safety design and improve protection for drivers in unexpected collision situations."

This success not only brings great joy to the group but also affirms the applied research potential of SMAE’s students in the field of automobile technology.

Another project that also won First Prize and was nominated for the 2025 National Science and Technology Award is the topic "Research on optimizing the design and manufacturing of orthopedic trauma braces", under the guidance of Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Tien Dat. Student Nguyen Quang Minh, Mechanical and Industrial Class - K17 shared: "Orthopedic trauma is an important medical problem. Optimizing treatment support devices, especially braces, is extremely important in improving the quality of life for patients. The group has conducted extensive research on materials, optimal design methods and modern manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing to create brace products that not only meet the requirements of durability and precision but also bring maximum comfort to patients." Winning the First Prize and being nominated to participate in the national science and technology award is a worthy result for all the efforts and attempts of the whole group. Hopefully, with this topic, the research group will continue to develop further to be able to apply the topic in real life.

The 2024-2025 student scientific research conference at HaUI was a great success. The achievements of SMAE’s students have affirmed the position of the School in training work associated with scientific research and practical application. This will be a strong driving force, continuing to promote the student scientific research movement, contributing to the training of high-quality human resources, ready to meet the development requirements of science, technology and society.
