Master's Theses in Mechanical Transportation Engineering: Affirming the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering's Position in Postgraduate Education and Specialized Research
On July 29th , 2025, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (SMAE) in collaboration with the Center for Postgraduate Studies, successfully held the Master's thesis defense session for the Mechanical Transportation Engineering major. The event was not only a significant milestone for the graduate students but also a clear testament to the School's capacity for specialized training and its focus on applied scientific research in mechanical transportation engineering—a field of strategic importance in modern industry.
SMAE is currently solidifying its position as one of the leading training institutions in the field of mechanical and automotive engineering in Vietnam. With a well-designed and specialized postgraduate program, the School focuses on providing a solid foundation of knowledge, skills for independent research, and the ability to apply advanced technologies. Graduate students gain access to new technological trends such as electric motors, hybrid systems, aerodynamic simulation, biofuels, and emission reduction technology—areas that are of paramount importance in the Industry 4.0 revolution and for sustainable development.
The 2025 Thesis Evaluation Council for the Mechanical Power Engineering Program
The thesis defense session for the first cohort of the 13th Intake featured many research topics of high practical value, clearly demonstrating the students' scientific thinking, ability to conduct independent research, and focus on real-world production applications. The professional council highly praised the rigor demonstrated in the execution of the theses, from defining the research problem and selecting appropriate methodologies to analyzing the results and proposing future directions for development
A standout thesis was "A study on the influence of complete fuel combustion duration on the technical performance and emissions of gasoline engines" by student Nguyen Quang Huy. The thesis delved into the relationship between the fuel combustion process and engine efficiency, while also assessing the impact on emission levels. In the context of the automotive industry's shift towards fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions, this research holds significant practical value and opens new approaches for optimizing engine design and operation.
Student Nguyen Quang Huy - Mechanical Transportation Engineering Major - confidently defends his thesis.
Another impressive thesis was "A study on the influence of SUV body shape on aerodynamic characteristics using ANSYS fluent" by student Ngo Tien Cuong. Through numerical simulation, the thesis analyzed the effect of the vehicle's shape on aerodynamic drag, subsequently proposing optimal design solutions to enhance operational performance and fuel economy. This serves as a testament to the ability to apply modern simulation technology in the research and development of mechanical and automotive product.
Student Ngo Tien Cuong – Mechanical Transportation Engineering Major – is congratulated by family and friends at his thesis defense.
The success of the defense session not only reflects the quality of the research projects but also the postgraduate training capabilities of SMAE. It is the result of the students' diligent study and research, the dedicated guidance from experienced faculty, and the dynamic, modern academic environment the School has built.
The Council congratulates the students on their successful Master's thesis defenses.
SMAE is committed to continuing to promote scientific research, expanding into new research areas, particularly in the fields of advanced and sustainable powertrain technologies. With its system of modern laboratories, highly qualified lecturers, and extensive network of corporate partnerships, the School provides graduate students with optimal conditions to develop their research capabilities, foster innovation, and integrate internationally.
It is believed that with the foundation of knowledge and skills cultivated at SMAE, graduates of the Master's program will continue to build on their strengths, becoming leading experts in their fields and making positive contributions to the development of science and technology. This is especially true for the field of Mechanical Transportation Engineering - a sector that currently plays a pivotal role in modern industry and sustainable development.
